Shackleford

Mrs. Pearl Tommie Lou Shackleford, 88, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

Born August 24, 1930, to Thomas H. Murphy, and Arabell Abels.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday at 6:00 PM, and the service will be Sunday September 30, at 2:00 PM in the chapel, with interment following in Hopewell cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Shackleford, a son Lowell Abbott Jr., of Garden City, daughter, Debra McCarley, of Hamilton, Al., Grandchildren, Christopher and Joshua Abbott, Jonathan Lambert, and Michael McCarley, and four Great Grandchildren.

Turner

Mr. John Henry Turner, 84, passed away Monday September 24, 2018.

Born June 13, 1934, to Postell Turner and Lillie Mae Garrett.

Visitation will be Friday at 5:30. His service will be Saturday at 12:00 at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, with interment in Colony Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Silas, Fred, Leon, Paul, Joseph, and Frances Turner.

Survivors are; his wife, Beatrice Turner, a sister, Catherine Williams, brothers, Lonzo, Jessie, Charles, Amos, and John Wesley Turner.

Barnett

Mr. Joseph Barnett, 67, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018.

He was born December 12, 1950, to William Jack Barnett, and Theresa Clara Arndt.

Visitation will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM. The service will begin at 3:00 PM, in the Chapel, with interment following in the Cullman City cemetery.

Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include, siblings; Deborah Roth, of Cullman, Janet Barnett, of Cullman, Jack (Sherry) Barnett, of North Jackson, Al., Patricia (Lee) Wright, of Sebastian, FL., Stephen Barnett, of Cullman, Sue Barnett, of Boardman, OH, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Christopher C. Cupp, 61 of Hanceville will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday September 26, 2018 at Hanceville Funeral Home, Reverend James Fields officiating. Interment will follow at Good Hope Cemetery.  Mr. Cupp's family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:30 pm. To 8p.m.
He is survived by his sister, Brenda Akridge of Norcross, Ga and a brother, Dennis Cupp of Hanceville.
Nieces: Kim Roncadori, Shannon Edwards, Crystal and Kayla Cupp Nephews; David Edwards and Anthony Cupp.
And a host of great nephews and nieces.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, E.R. and Anna Cupp and siblings Bryan and Roy Cupp, Lana Edwards, June Cox, Irene Byrd and Hope Lindsey

Mrs. Clementeen Thompson, 78,  passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

Born September 11, 1940 to Elmer Todd and Huldia Alexander

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Ricky Wayne Thompson.

Survivors include, a daughter, Debra Lochamy, of Anniston, a son, Michael Thompson, of Russellville, Grandchildren, Chris Thompson, Michael Ray Thompson, Zach Taylor, Rachel Taylor, Kane Lochamy, Courtney Lochamy, Alexis Thompson, Great Grandchildren, Oliver James Taylor, and Madison Taylor.

Visitation will be Sunday September 23, 2018 at 1:00 PM, with Graveside services to follow at 2:00 PM in Hopewell Cemetery.

Norma Compton, 92, of Hanceville passed away on September 20, 2018 at Woodland Village Healthcare.
 
Ms. Compton was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Compton; parents, M. M. and Lena Clements Gibbs; brother, James M. "Bud" (Mae) Gibbs; sisters, Mildred (Robert) Griffith and Rilla (C.L./Pickey) Waldrop; brother-in-law, Claud Grantham.  Survivors include her son, Tim Compton; a sister, Jonnie Grantham; nephews, Johnny (Ginger) Grantham and Mike (Sonya) Gibbs; nieces, Ginger (Van) Black and Susan (Robert) Smith.

Mrs. Norma Compton, 92, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018.

She was born June 8, 1926, and was a native of the Hanceville area.

Graveside services will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Hopewell cemetery. No visitation is planned.

Survivors include a son, Tim Compton, and a sister, Johnnie Grantham.

Steve, a former long time police officer with Hanceville Police Department and U.S. Navy veteran died Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 at his residence.
 
He is survived by sisters, Carolyn Yance and Becky Hall of Midland City, AL; Brother, Darrell Conner of Midland City and several nieces and nephews.  Also surviving is his ex-wife Kathy Conner.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tyler Conner and parents, David and Mary Dossett Conner.

Born January 16, 1927, in Steele, MO., to Joseph Clarence Christian, and Georgia Frances Miller.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday. Her service will begin at 2:00 PM in the chapel, with interment following in Mt. Grove Congregational cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Dean Francis Thomas.

She is survived by a son, David Thomas, four daughters, Karen (Larry) Clark, Leslie Coffee, Martha Thomas, and Mary Barnes, two sisters, Mable Catt, and Trecia Bennett.

Mr. James Daniel Harris, 82, passed away on Tuesday September 4, 2018.

He was a United States Army Veteran for two years.

Born April 6, 1936 to John Thomas Harris and Onvie Elizabeth Pitts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his stepmother, Pauline Harris Ballard, brothers, Jack, Bo, and Ronnie Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Brewer Harris, sons, Danny (Joy), Danny (Bonnie), and John (Laura) Harris, siblings, Sue (Hollis) Holmes, Tommy Harris, Don (Martha) Harris, Jane (Ronnie) Chamblee, and Shannon Harris, Five Grandchildren, and 6 Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born August 15, 1941 to Joseph Lester and Alma Rollo Lester.

Hanceville Funeral Hone announces funeral service for Virginia Twilley, 77 of Hanceville will be 11a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Mt. Grove Baptist Church. Burial in the adjoining cemetery.  Family will receive friends Tuesday evening beginning at 5:30 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Twilley died Sunday, September 2, 2018 in a Birmingham hospital.
She is survived by brothers, David and Gale Williams and a host of nieces and nephews.
