Self

Mrs. Erma Lee Graves, Swann, Self, 89, of Bremen, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018.

She was born on July 28, 1929, to Claude and Velma Calvert Graves. She married Eldredge Swann on August 24, 1946.

Services will be at Ryans Creek Baptist Church, Wednesday at 1:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. Dillon Calvert and Tim Sutton officiating.

Erma is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands; Eldredge "E.O." Swann, and Harlis Self, a son-in-law Marc Miller, a brother Oran and his wife Delwyn Graves, a brother-in-law Carroll Swann and three nephews; Glenn Graves, Donnie Graves and Travis Holcomb.

She is survived by her three sons; Julian (Judy) Swann, Lance (Kathy) Swann, and Doyle (Vicki) Swann. Her two daughters; Sherron Miller and Kathy (Gerald) Parker. 13 Grandchildren, 26 Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Three brothers; Erston (Moria) Graves, Rayburn (Betty) Graves, Dillard (Frances) Graves, and one sister, Virgie (Frank) Calvert. Two sister-in-laws, Freda Swann and Anda (Larry) Holcomb, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Pudles

Mrs. Ina Jo Pudles, 87, of Hanceville, passed away on Sunday November 25, 2018.

She was born on August 12, 1931, to Unk Hardin and Toleda Erethel Smith Hardin.

There will be a Graveside service at Hopewell Cemetery, in Hanceville, on Sunday December 2, 2018.

Funeral service for Larry G. Baker 73, of Garden City will be held at 2 pm Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Hanceville Funeral Home with reverends Trueman Davis and Randall Waldrep officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Fairview West Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening beginning at 5:30 at the funeral home.

 

Larry was born July 18, 1945 in Cullman to the late Glen and Ossie Nichols Baker. He was a retired oiler  from the ABC Coke plant in Tarrant City.

 

Larry was born again in January of 1981, became a deacon at Fairview West Baptist Church on March 31, 1985 and was involved as a Sunday school teacher as well as an RA and GA leader for the children.

 

His family includes his wife, Judie Baker;

Children Mark Baker and Shea (Melvin) Hastings.

Grandchildren; Landen Ballew, Spencer Hastings and Brody Hastings.

Sisters; Mary (late Russell) Bernard, Martha (Lloyd) Harris and Rachael (Henry) Pinkston.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Bill and James Henry (Sonny) Baker.

Sawyer

Mrs. Willie Sue Sawyer, 94, of Hanceville, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018.

She was born on March 19, 1924 to Robert F. and Viola Kathryn Walker Simpson.

Service for Mrs. Sawyer will be Tuesday, November 20, at Hanceville First Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, with interment in Damascus Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Clark Sawyer, and her brother, retired Colonel, Robert Simpson Jr.

Survivors include sons Jimmy (Bonnie) Sawyer, of Hanceville, and Mike Sawyer, of Foley, daughters, Sue Ann (John) Patrick, of Cullman, and Sara Jo (Bill) Medlock, of Panama City Beach, Florida, six Grandchildren, seven Great Grandchildren, and a sister, Martha Ann Luna, of Mt. Olive.

Funeral service for Kenneth Chamblee, 72 of Warrior will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Hanceville Funeral Home chapel. The Reverend Dean Burtram, Buddy Jackson and Ethan Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow at Mulberry Baptist Church cemetery in Blountsville.  His family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Kenneth, a retired carpenter, was born the son of the late Vernon C. and Eula Carr Chamblee on January 7, 1946 in Blount County. He passed to his eternal home on November 14, 2018 in Birmingham, Al.

He leaves behind his wife, Jeanette Chamblee
Children: Paula (Roy) Kirkover, Stanley (Vanessa) Chamblee, and Carolyn Chamblee Smith.
Six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Also surviving are a nephew, Terry Chamblee and great nephew, Dana Chamblee

Mattox

Mr. David Mattox, of Hanceville, passed away today, November 14, 2018 in Birmingham.

He was born to Rayford and Donna Bitzel Mattox on February 20, 1958.

Visitation will be Friday at 5:30PM, and his service will be Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 11:00 AM in the chapel, with burial following in Rice Chapel Cemetery. Reverend Tim Barnett will be officiating.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rayford Mattox.

Survivors are his wife, Valissa Mattox, children, Laura (Zach) Southeard, of Helena, Jonathan (Jamie) Mattox, of Hayden, Grandchildren, Carter Southeard, Logan Mattox, and Austin Mattox, Brothers, Terry (Sherry) Mattox, of Hanceville, Michael (Sandra) Mattox, of Hanceville, Jimmy (Kim) Mattox, of Hanceville, Sisters, Brenda Mattox, of Crane Hill, Charleen (Matthew) Townson, of Hanceville, Mother, Donna Mattox, of Hanceville.

Mr. Terry

Mr. Henry L. Terry, 90, of Hanceville, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018.

He was born September 17, 1928 to Henry Leemon Sr., and Madgie Thrasher Terry.

He served his country in the United States Navy.

Visitation will be Tuesday November 13, 2018 at 5:30, and his service will be Wednesday November 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel, with interment in Mt. Grove Congregational Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include four children; Calvin Terry, of Hanceville, Judy Terry, of Hanceville, Mendi (Mike) Patton, of Birmingham, and Greg (Wendi) Terry, of Atlanta, GA., ten Grandchildren, and 14 Great Grandchildren

Service for H.L. "Pops" Terry, 90 of Hanceville will be held 11a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Hanceville Funeral Home chapel. Interment following at Mt. Grove Congregational Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday evening beginning at 5:30 at the funeral home.  Mr. Terry died Monday at his residence.

Pugh

RC (Curly) Pugh, passed away November 1, 2018 at age 87.
 
A native of Arkadelphia, Mr. Pugh graduated from Cold Springs High School and went Up North to establish a career with General Tire and Rubber Company.  He retired in 1993 to his home on Smith Lake.  Dancing was his passion and Dad cut a rug with the best of them, dancing weekly at the VFW as well as Donald Green. 
 
Preceded in death by parents Rufus & Cora Pugh; Siblings: Cleo, Melvin, David, Troy, Irene, Gertrude, Martha, Wanda, Elijah, and Arthur.
 
Survived by brothers: Grady, Donald (Linda), Billy Gene (Pat), Charles (Patricia).
 
Survived by his beloved, Maude Abercrombie. Children: Kimberly DeFilippis, Kerry Pugh (Lynda), and Wendy Boorsma. Grandchildren: Nicholas (Liz) & Charlie (DeAnna) DeFilippis, Matthew (Kara) Boorsma & Kelly (Justin) Green, Brian (Leah) & Kelsey Pugh. Great Grandchildren: Carsyn, Bryson, Autumn, Audrey, and Rhys.
 
Served in the U.S. Army, Korean War 1951-1953.
 
Visitation Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 1-5 pm at Hanceville Funeral Home, 100 Michelle St. NW, Hanceville.  Celebration of Life (graveside service) will be held at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, 1638 County Rd 852, Crane Hill, November 4, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
