Funeral Services for Colene P. Shelton, aged 81, of Hanceville, Alabama are 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 29 at the Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation for friends will be prior to the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shelton had been a teacher at the Church Day Care, Birmingham. Most recently Mrs. Shelton was a parishioner at Prospect Baptist Church, Hanceville

Mrs. Shelton is survived by her brother, Marrell (Glenda) Parker, sister-in-law, Gertrude Darnell and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shelton is preceded in death by her husband, Vetta Shelton, sister, Irene Stewart, and three brothers, Orlin Parker, Thurman Parker and J.R. Parker.

Funeral services for Frances R. Harrington 86, of Hanceville, Alabama will be two p.m. Tuesday November 26, 2019 at the Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday November 26, prior to funeral service. Reverend Jimmy Sawyer will be officiating.

Mrs. Harrington is the daughter of the late D.R. and Verna Mae (Burgess) Roberts and is originally from Blount County.  Mrs. Harrington worked in retail sales.

Survivors include daughter, Janice (Ken) Bass. Sisters; Virginia Leighber of Hanceville, Sarah Miller of Vinemont, Rena Meade of Garden City and Jean Copland of Blountsville. Grandchildren include Alyssa (Jamie) Jones, Matthew (Heather) Bass and Roxanne (Michael) Green, great grandchildren, Marliegh Green, Monroe Green and Rowan Bass.

Mrs. Harrington is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Harrington, a son, Ronnie Lindsey and brother, Frank Roberts.

Funeral service for Brenda Kay Watson, 74 of Hayden will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2019 at Hanceville Funeral Home with Reverend Vernon Alvis officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview West Cemetery in Hanceville.  Visitation will be Sunday evening beginning at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

 


Valerie Denise Calvert, age 52, of Hanceville, AL passed away Friday, November 22, 2019 at CRMC.

Funeral service will be Monday, November 25, 2019 at 2:00 PM at The Chapel of Hanceville Funeral Home.  Internment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Hanceville Funeral Home, Sunday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Monday from 1:00 PM until Funeral Time.

Funeral services for Mr. Claud Day, aged 86, of Hanceville, will be 2 p.m. Sunday December 1, 2019 at the Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Dennis Reeves will be officiating. Visitation by friends will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday November 30, 2019 at the funeral home.

Mr. Day had been a fabricator at Alter Utility Manufacturing, held an Associates Degree and was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Day is survived by his son Leon (Carolyn) Day of New York City, New York, two sisters, Mary Burns of Hanceville and Loraine Day of Birmingham and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Day is preceded in death by his parents John Alton and Jura (Nichols) Day.

Mrs. Jacobs was a self-employed farmer and homemaker.

Mrs. Jacobs is survived by her son, Larry Edward Jacobs, of Ellabelle, Georgia, a daughter Rebecca Eloise Sprowl of Hanceville, sisters, Mary Hughes, of Hanceville, Alabama and Doris Briscoe, of Gardendale, Alabama and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Jacobs is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Jacobs, sons, Mancel, Harold and Timothy Jacobs, sisters, Clara Starnes, Cleo Herndon and Vivian Graham, brothers, Dewey, Clifford and Leonard Hutson.

Bobby Allen Curtis born November 12, 1943, in Lawrence County, Alabama, to Robert Allen and Virginia Miller Curtis. He died November 17, 2019, in Cullman, Alabama. He retired from the Cullman County Sheriff's Office with 25 years as a deputy and 8 years as a reserve deputy.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenneth Curtis; two nephews, Allen Curtis and Blake Landers.

 

Survived by two sons; Jeff (Susie) and  Jason(Carla) Curtis, Sherron Miller, mother of his children and partner, one sister; Jewel (Nathaniel) Waits, Three brothers; Charles (Betty) Curtis, Dannie Curtis, Dennis (Kathy) Curtis, sister-in-law Sarah Curtis,  6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday November 21 at Ryan's Creek Baptist Church, interment in the adjoining cemetery. Reverends Tommy Graves and Brandon Stripling officiating. Family receiving friends at the church starting at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will be Saturday November 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the home. Officiating will be Reverend Kenneth Terry. Burial will be at the Mount Zion Nazarene Cemetery.   

Lottie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to this she was employed at Precision Press Company.

Lottie is survived by a brother Cecil (Georgia) Johnson of Smokerise, Alabama, a son Rodney (Lisa) Terry of Decatur, Alabama, grandchildren include Xalyn (Emily) Peek, Maisey (Will) Karrh and Haleigh (Nichol Winters) Peek, a great grandchild Anna James Peek and multiple nieces and nephews.   

Lottie is predeceased by her husband Austin Terry, her parents George and Mattie (nee Fallin) Johnson, brothers, Samuel, Howard and Russell Johnson, sisters, Martha Johnson and Marie Green.

Martha is survived by her husband Charles Aldridge, Sons, Greg (Kerri) Aldridge and Dwight Aldridge, four grandchildren, Chandler (Blake) Hoffman, Chastin (Austin) Scott, Evan Aldridge and Conner Aldridge, two brothers Glenn and Benny Yarbrough, a sister Diane Stewart as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Joyce Dean Mann, 67, of Hanceville Alabama will be 3 O'clock P.M. Friday November 15, 2019 at Hanceville Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Grove Congregational Cemetery located in Hanceville. Reverends Heath Riggs and Matt Griffin will be officiating. The family will welcome friends for a visitation on Friday prior to the service beginning at 2 O'clock P.M.

Mrs. Mann was a nurse in the healthcare industry for many years.

Mrs. Mann is survived by her son Jason Tyree (Savann) Mann; grandchildren, Tristan Kade Mann, Troy Ellis Mann and Magnus Tallon Mann; a sister Fay Yearwood and a brother-in-law James Yearwood. She is preceded in death by her parents Elmo and Nellie (Stone) Johns.

Pallbearers will include Ronald Stone, Ricky Stone, Jackie Stone, Russell Dunn, Elliot Bennett and Gerald Tucker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Pete Mallard, Ricky Harris and J.R. Criddle.

Funeral Services for Barbara Sue Scott Johns affectionately known as "Grannybob" will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday November 13 at the Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Randy Butram and Bob Holley will be officiating. Visitation for friends is 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday November 12 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Bethlehem East Cemetery.

 Barbara worked at Nicholson File for 34 years as a machine operator. She was also the longest active member (70 years) at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church.

 Mrs. Johns is survived by her children Linda Johns Quick, James Alan (Angela) Johns, and Michael Anthony Johns. Grandchildren include Brandon (Kerry) Quick, Brittney (Robyn) Canady, Brent Quick, Shawna Manning,  Amanda Johns, Scott (Brooke) Johns, Kimberly Johns, Will (Tesla) Johns and Katie Johns. Great grandchildren include, Collin Harris, Josie McDonald, Sagey, River and Barrett Susanna Canady, Addyson Manning, Ellie Wells, Brycen Johns, Donavan and Carter Morgan, Colt and Blaklee Johns, Kyhlie, Jake and Silas Johns and Naomi Eady, a sister Dean (Ray) Murphree, a brother, Dan (Brenda) Scott and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

 Mrs. Johns is preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Johns, parents Ennis and Alene Scott, sisters, Maxine Holley, Brenda Glista, brothers, Rayburn and Bill Scott, and son-in-law James (Ronnie) Quick.

Funeral Services for Wayne Wilson, 65, of Hanceville will be 11 O'clock A.M. Tuesday November 5, 2019 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Bro. Paul Campbell will be officiating. The family will welcome friends for a visitation at the funeral home from 6 O'clock P.M. to 8 O'clock P.M. Monday November 4, 2019.

Mr. Wilson served in the Army National Guard and was a truck driver for many years at Jones Motor Company. He was loved by many family members and friends. Mr. Wilson was a man of strong faith and a member of First United Methodist Church of Hanceville, AL. where he stayed active within his church family and community.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of many years, Lisa Wilson; his children, Shawn Hageman and Kristie Gilley; grandchildren Samantha Gilley, Colton Gilley, Robyn Hageman and Brittney Hageman; a great great grandson Jaylon Graves; his brother Kenneth (Rose) Wilson; mother Drucilla Wilson and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his father Sonny Wilson, sister Anita Cornelius, step-daughter Amy Thompson and a sister-in-law Gwen Sullins.
