     Funeral service for Wanda Lee Sanders, 81 of Hanceville will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Valley View Baptist Church with Reverends Philip Starnes and Marvin Clemmons officiating. Her family will receive friends at the church beginning at noon. Interment will follow in the church yard cemetery. It is asked that masks be worn and distancing recommendations be followed.

A graveside service for Donald Ray Cates of Bremen, Alabama will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Cold Springs Cemetery.

 

Mr. Cates was born April 29, 1946 in Blount County and died at the age of 74 on January 29, 2021 in Jefferson County.

 

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Cates; son, Rod (Rachael) Cates; grandchildren, Caleb Cates, Caitlin Cates, and Cade Cates; a brother, Cecil (Viva) Cates; sisters, Jewel Williams, and Shirley (Edward) Willoughby; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

Mr. Cates was preceded in death by his son, Shane Cates; parents, Albert and Lucille (Washington) Cates; and brothers, Wayne Cates and Mike Cates.

Graveside services for Nellie Marie Elliot Graves of Hanceville, Alabama will be 2 O'clock P.M. Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Garden City Cemetery.

 

Nell died at the age of 88 at her home on January 28, 2021 peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, and granddaughter. She was such a strong, loving, and incredibly lovable wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved just as much as she was loved; which was beyond measures and she will be greatly missed.

 

Mrs. Graves is survived by her daughters, Faye (Dwayne) Morris, Youvon Graves Sharp, and Becky (Kenny) White; daughters-in-love, Delilah Sontag and Becky Bowers; grandchildren, Shawn and Tracy Burgess, Austin White (Cheyenne Phillips), Houston (CarrieAnn) White, and Jazzlyn Sharp; a great granddaughter, EllieAna White.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Graves; daughter, Maxine Graves Clay; mother, Lottie Elliot; and a brother, Carlie Elliot.

Graveside services for Tony Wynn will be 12:00 PM Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Hopewell Cemetery in Pinson, Alabama. Reverend Billy Smith will be officiating. Visitation will be at Hanceville Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service.

 

Tony Wynn of Bremen, Alabama was called home to be with The Lord at age 62 on Monday, January 25, 2021.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, John G. Wynn and Mildred A. Wynn.

 

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 17 years, Dorethea Wynn; sons, Nick Love and Chris Love; sister, Debbie (Sonny) Scholl of Brandon, MS; brothers, Nicky Wynn of Pearl, MS and Terry Wynn of Brandon, MS; nephews, Conrad Gilmore, Kevin Gilmore and Brandon Wynn.

 

Mr. Wynn was a devoted employee of O'Neal Steel with 42 years of service.

Graveside services for Dudley Lee Latta of Hanceville, will be Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Holly Pond Cemetery. Reverend John McKoy will be officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at Hanceville Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 AM.

 

Mr. Latta was born to Julius and Allene (Watts) Latta on November 10, 1935 in Cullman County, Alabama. He died at the age of 85 at his residence on January 24, 2021.

 

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Latta; children, Sharon Gobble, Karen (Scotty) Burgett, Linda (Daryl) Fox, and Earl Latta; grandchildren, Corey Gobble, Matthew Gobble, Dylan (Emily) Burgett, Sean (Miyo) Nowak, Sarah Fox, Eli Latta, and Elyssa Latta; great grandchildren, Raylan Gobble and Olivia Gobble; a sister, Mary Nell Kelso, and Judy Latta; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Latta was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Latta; and his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Francis Latta.

Visitation for Herlin Calvert, age 81 of Bremen, will be from 10:00am-12:00pm on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Hanceville Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:00pm at Persimmon Grove Church of Christ.

 

Mr. Calvert passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born January 29, 1939 to the late Mancle and Vannie Rae Calvert.

 

Herlin was a loving brother, father, and grandfather. He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1961 to 1965. This sparked his interest in flying and airplanes. He worked most of his life as an electrician. He enjoyed gardening, photography, cruising, and spending time with his family.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Calvert, his parents, and his brother and sister-in-law, Cleon and Kathryn Calvert.

 

Survivors include his sons, Brian (Heather) Calvert, Darrin (Jackie) Calvert; grandchildren, Blake (Blair) Calvert, Morgan Calvert, Clara Johnson, Keira Calvert, and Miles Calvert; brother, Eulane (Dian) Calvert; stepchildren, Melroy Grant, Jodi Grant, and Chanda Gonzalez and host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

 

Pallbearers are Caleb Anders, Heath Attaway, Howard Calvert, Mark Calvert, Shane Kilgo, and Tim White.

Graveside services for Terry Wayne Adams of Hayden will be Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hayden.

 

Mr. Adams was born on March 8, 1954 in Blount County. He died at the age of 66 on January 17, 2021 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. Terry worked with CSX for several years and was a number one fan of Alabama Football.  He is loved by his family and friends and will be missed dearly. The memories they shared will never be forgotten.

 

Mr. Adams is survived by his son, Timothy Adams; brothers and sisters, Edna (Billy) Giddy, Linda (Jerry) Hix, Bud (Barbara) Adams, Bonnie Bailey, Mary Johnson, and Darlene (Pat) Adamson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellie James and Dorothy (Johnson) Adams.

Graveside services for Quinton Harold Whatley of Hanceville will be 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville. Reverend Tim Aris will be officiating.

 

Mr. Whatley was born to Robert and Clarice (Shaddrix) Whatley on August 24, 1935 in Cullman. He died at the age of 85 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab Center in Hanceville on January 17, 2021. Mr. Whatley was also a member of The United States Air Force.

 

Quinton is survived by his wife, Jean Whatley; children, Clark Whatley, Danny (Melissa) Ford, Cindy (Fred) Penn, and Tim Ford; grandchildren, Ivy (James) Wright, Teague Whatley, Easton Whatley, Whit (Amy) Ford, Corey Ford, Zack Ford, Dylan Ford, and Riley Ford; great grandchildren, Maisley Ford, Brayden Ford, Willa Ford, and Wellsley Ford; and a sister, Sybil Baker.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Whatley was also preceded in death by his grandson, Jackson Colt Whatley.

In loving memory of Barney Vincent.

 

Mr. Vincent was born April 27, 1944 in Garden City, AL to Clarence and Gladys (Knight) Vincent. He died at the age of 76 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab Center in Hanceville, AL on January 13, 2021.

 

Barney is survived by his son, Greg (Valerie) Vincent; grandchildren; Randall Boles, Gregory Couey, Rachel (Dylan Ford) Vincent, Emily (Connor) Patterson, and Whitney Vincent; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Thomas.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Ginger Vincent and siblings, Billy, Margie, Elouise, and Gladys.

 

Mr. Vincent will be laid to rest at Garden City Cemetery. Due to current weather conditions no services have been planned.

Graveside services for Maylon Jerome Fields of Hanceville will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Colony Community Cemetery in Hanceville. Reverend Horace Blount III will be officiating.

Mr. Fields was born April 10, 1956 to James Fields Sr. and Ophelia (Minnitt) in Cullman County. He died at Cullman Regional Medical Center on January 11, 2021 at the age of 64.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Willie Rose Fields; children, Tara Hines, Tarshall (Brian) Dublin, Napoleon Jones, Ivan Fields, and LaTashia (Tyrone) Turner; 9 grandchildren; his mother, Ophelia Fields; brothers, Reverend Odis Lee (JoAnn) Minnitt, Howard Louis Fields, Reverend James C. (Yvette) Fields; and Terry Wayne Fields; a sister, Natalie Regina Fields; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Fields Sr. and a sister, Geri Brank.

Mrs. Calvert is survived by her husband, Deltis Calvert; children, Dede Ann Watson, Dale (Laura) Calvert, and Phillip Watson; grandchildren, Emily Paige Calvert and Ryan Andrew Calvert; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Alice (Sherman) Stutz; and 3 brothers, Robert, Richard, and Edward Stutz.


A memorial service for Patricia Carol Cook, 70, of Hanceville will be held at 2 O'clock P.M. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Bangor Cemetery in Blount Springs, AL.

 

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Janet (Jonpaul) Bockman; grandchildren, Cody Weaver, Nikki Weaver, Kaine Bockman, Lacey Bockman, and Lyla Bockman; great grandchildren, Sloan Weaver, Fletcher Weaver, and soon to be Riley Bockman; 3 brothers; and 5 sisters.

 

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Dorothy (Quick) Swann.

A graveside service for Reverend Randy Derrick Burnett 43, of Cullman will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 4, 2020 at Colony Community Cemetery in Colony, Alabama.

In loving memory of Robert Emory Creel.

 

Robert Emory Creel passed away early January 2, 2021 from complications of the COVID virus at the age of 84. He as born October 6, 1936 to Robert Elijah Creel and Naomi (Patrick) Creel and was a lifelong resident of Hanceville.

 

After graduating from Hanceville High School, he began a 42-year career with the railroad, first working for the L&N and retiring from CSX. Robert had a love for trains that began when he was a boy working in the fields in White City near the railroad tracks. This continued through his life when he was known to carry grand kids to excellent vantage points to see trains crossing.

 

Robert had a love for his hometown and served two terms on the city council. In 1988, Robert and Linda relocated to Jacksonville, Florida for work, but Robert did not feel at home until he was able to relocate back to Hanceville upon retirement in 1998. After his retirement, he was an avid gardener and active member at church and loved his church family dearly.

 

Mr. Creel is survived by his wife Linda of 53 years; two sons, Clint (Kristi) and Jon (Kim) Creel; grandchildren, Warren, Emily, Katie, and Zella; a sister, Ruth Brigham; a brother, Don (Wanda) Creel; a sister-in-law, Frances Creel; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, E.O. Creel, Leo Creel; and a sister, Bonnie Waldrop.

 

Services will be announced at a later time by the family.
