Funeral services for Robert "Louis" Doss, 70, of Hanceville, Alabama will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 30th at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Doug Barbee will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Church of the Nazarene Cemetery in Blount County. Visitation will be at Hanceville Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, May 29th.

Mr. Doss was preceded in death by his parents, Coy Waddell and Mavis (Black) Doss; grandson, Ethan Doss and great grandson, Christian Wyatt.

In loving memory of Tommy Bernard Basinger.

 

Mr. Basinger was born on May 28, 1955 to Volen and Lura (Murphy) Basinger in Jefferson County. He died at the age of 65 on May 21, 2021 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

 

Survivors include his wife, Valerie Basinger; daughters, Bridget (Warren) Ratliff, Denise (John) Locke, and Vanessa (Bo) Souder; son, John (Ashley) Schnarrs; grandchildren, Stephen Ratliff, Katy Ratliff, Ashley Herald (Brian Parker), Hunter Perkins (Jessie McCrady), Justine Perkins, Jenna Souder, Tessa Souder, and Alex Souder; great grandchildren, Lexi Parker, Mary Parker, Lillian Parker, Addilynn Parker, and Rylee Perkins; nieces, Amanda (Wesley) Kilgo, Jennifer (Todd) Craig, and Heather (Zac) White; nephews, Josh (Mona) York, and Brian Sharp; great nieces and nephews, Ashlynn Kilgo, Caleb Kilgo, Abby Sharp, Addalynn Sharp, Dylan Lazaro, Alivia White, and Jada White.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Basinger was preceded in death by his son, Sammy Basinger; sister, Patricia Basinger; and great niece, Lexie York.

 

The family will have a private burial at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville. After services have concluded anyone is welcome to pay their respects at the cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Stephen Ratliff, Brian Sharp, Josh York, Travis Eskew, Jonathan Graves, and Zac White.

Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his son, Keith Perkins; parents, Gurley and Opal (Weeks) Perkins; mother and father-in-law, JD and Mildred Jones; brother-in-law, Jimmy Denton; and a niece Sheila Lee.

A funeral service for William Ernie Moore of Hanceville, Alabama will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Valley View Church in Arkadelphia. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Moore will lie in state from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Reverends Horace Swann and Philip Starnes will officiate. Visitation will be held at Hanceville Funeral Home from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

 

Mr. Moore was born on October 11, 1937 in Arkadelphia to Jessie and Claudia (Thomas) Moore. He died on May 9, 2021 at his residence at the age of 83 surrounded by his family.

 

Survivors include is wife, Geneva Ann Moore; children, Steve (Nancy) Moore, Gregory Moore, Jeffrey Moore, and Wesley (Sherry) Moore; grandchildren, Brittany, Caitlin, Hunter, Nash, Isaiah, and Isabella; great grandchildren, Kaden, Spencer, Liam, Cohen, and Jaxon; a sister, Ethelene (Net) Freeman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral services for Sherron "Sherry" C. Stricklin, of Cullman, Alabama will be 12:15 P.M. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville. Reverend Bo Pruett will be officiating. Visitation will be at Hanceville Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:30 A.M. to service time.

 

She was born on August 3, 1941 to Odis and Allene (Grimmett) Ponder and died at the age of 79 surrounded by her family on May 6, 2021.

 

Mrs. Stricklin had a heart full of love and compassion. Whether it be a relative, a friend or someone she simply crossed paths with; she always had time for a conversation. One of the most precious things about Sherry was her contagious smile and of course the laughter to go along with it. To say that she had a joyful personality is simply an understatement. If nothing else, she loved to sing; especially her favorite gospel hymns. She was also a member of Addington Chapel United Methodist Church in Cold Springs, Alabama.

 

Survivors include her children, Tom Stricklin, Cindy Stricklin, Jennifer (John) Vincent, and Janna (Terry) Fendley; grandchildren, Meagan (Jamie) Danish, Kristen Denney, Jared Vincent, Brittany Couey, Jordan (Jeremiah) Hogeland, Paige Fendley, Seth Fendley, Noah Fendley and Jerrica Vincent; 10 great grandchildren; and her brother, Fred Ponder.

 

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her son, Harlan Stricklin.

 

The family would like to send a special 'Thank You' to her caregivers, Annette Campbell and Christie Tolbert, as well as, the staff at Encompass Health for the amazing love, care and support.

Mrs. Burgess is the daughter of the Late Creamer Arthur Burgess and Juanita Travis. She was born in Cullman, Alabama on July 9, 1948. She died at the age of 72 on April 30, 2021.

Survivors include her children, Kim (Babs) Freeman, Keith (Sonia) Burgess, and Keadrick (Laura) Burgess; grandchildren, Shannon (Kayla) Burgess, Brandon (Crystal) Burgess, Cameron Burgess, Kaden Burgess, Noah Burgess, and Rivers Burgess; great grandchildren, Caliegh Burgess, Colby Burgess, Caroline Burgess, Jesse Ray, Julian Dogett, and a great granddaughter on the way; sisters, Linda Isbell and Janet (David) Smith; and brothers, Dewayne (Pat) Arthur and Carlton Bell; a host of nieces and nephews; and a very close sister-in-law, Trish Thorn.
