A private graveside service for Billy Wayne Evans will be Wednesday, September 1st at Union Hill Church of Christ Cemetery. Minister Bret Walters will be officiating. For those that are attending masks are encouraged.

Mr. Evans was a longtime member of Homewood Church of Christ. He was born on May 10, 1938 in Cullman and died at the age of 83 on August 29, 2021 in Hoover.

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Louis C and Ethel (Pichelmayer) Evans and 10 siblings.

Survivors include his devoted wife and best friend of 64 years, Ann Evans; children, Deborah Ann Alhadeff (Dr. Les) and Barry Gamble Evans (Geri); grandchildren, Lindsey Davis (Jordan), Logan Wayne Evans, Parker Cole Evans and William Nissim Alhadeff; two sisters, Glenda Gorham and Diana Harris; loving church family, friends, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hurst passed away at the age of 60 at his home on August 26, 2021. He was a good man and devoted Auburn fan. Most importantly, he loved his family and enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.D. "Bimbo" Goodwin Jr; second husband, Von Roberts; son, Joel Derrick Goodwin; two brothers; one sister; and parents, Alvin and Mary McGraw Alexander.

Funeral services for Freda Annette Batten, 77, of Hanceville, Alabama will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 27 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Welti Cumberland Cemetery. Reverend Lonnie Goodwin will officiate. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 26 at the funeral home.

 

Mrs. Batten was born on November 22, 1943 to James and Harriett Armstrong in Cullman. She died at the age of 77 in Birmingham.

 

Survivors include her children, Rhonda King, James Self, Regina McAlister and Gary Self; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret Teal, Jimmie Durham, Cathy Jensen and Debbie Ferrell.

 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Batten was preceded in death by her sister, Shelby Jean McAnnally.

Additional services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 25 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care Chapel in Haines City, FL. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. A committal service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, FL.

 

Mrs. Temples was born on October 10, 1944 in Chipley, FL to the late Leslie and Monette (Odom) Justice. She died at the age of 76 on August 19, 2021 at Cullman Regional Medical Center in Cullman, Alabama. She had a flower shop for several years that she ran with her sister. Cooking was also a talent of hers. Aside from the cooking of her delicious meals she spoiled all with her very own recipes. Mrs. Temples was a strong and self-motivated individual, her family was the joy of her life and tending to loved ones in need was the greatest passion of them all.

 

Survivors include her daughters, Vicki and Richard Southeard and Brittany and Richard Booher; grandchildren, Helen, Lindsay, Cody, Zach, Richard, Joshua, Lee, Madi, Jackson, Anna and Abby; and great grandchildren, Remi, Carter, Jalyn, Tori, Landon and C.J.

 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Temples was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Essing.

Mr. Sullins was born on March 4, 1958 to the late David and Margaret (Culwell) Sullins in Cullman. He died at the age of 63 on August 17, 2021 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Marie Sullins; siblings, Carolyn Jones, Larry Sullins, Jerry (Polly) Sullins and Jack (Louise) Sullins; fiancé, Kathy Nation, her children, Chris (Page) Nation and Zachary (Autumn) Nation and grandchildren, Emily Nation, Parker Nation and Cambrey Nation; mother of his daughter, Rebecca Sullins; and a host of many nieces and nephews.

A private committal service for Erma Barnett of Hanceville, Alabama was held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Fairview West Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.

 

Mrs. Barnett was born on January 9, 1937 to Aubrey and Opal White in Cullman, Alabama. She died on August 13, 2021 at the age of 84 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

 

Mrs. Barnett is survived by her daughter, Rita Wood; son, Stanley and Kathy Barnett; and grandchildren, Colleen Barnett and Justin Barnett.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Barnett and granddaughter, Sarah Wood.


Funeral services with Masonic Rites for Daniel L. Evans, age 84 of Hanceville will be at 2PM on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Union Hill Church of Christ in Hanceville. The visitation will be from 12-2PM on Wednesday.

 

Daniel was a welder and a member of UMWA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and an avid fisherman. Daniel was a Freemason for 59 years and member of Union Hill Church of Christ.

 

Daniel was born October 28, 1936, to Louis C. Evans, Sr. and Ethel Pichelmayer Evans. Daniel was predeceased by his parents; nine siblings; and his grandson, Colton Evans, son of Brant Evans, Beth Calvert Evans.

 

Daniel is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sue Rice Evans, three sons, and one daughter. His children are Blake Evans and his wife Shelia Miller Evans; Brant Evans and his children Jesse Evans and Garrett Evans; Drew Evans and his wife Leann Lamar Evans and their children, Lauren Grace Evans and Landon Evans; Brooke Evans Freeman and her husband Brent Freeman and their son, Luke Freeman. He is also survived by goddaughter, April White Bloomingburg.

 

Pallbearers will be his children and grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Jamey Hammock, Bart Hammock, Jason Keith, Terry Melton, Nathan Melton, Durwood Dean, Bobby Blalock, Alan Gamble and Allen Baker.

 

The family requests those attending wear masks.

Mrs. Grantham was born on February 10, 1938 to the late William Floyd and Mabel (Batemon) Baker in Cullman. She died on August 14, 2021 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab Center in Hanceville at the age of 83.

 

Survivors include her son, Mike (Tammy) Grantham; grandchildren, Lauren (Nicholas) Hillman and Angie (Waid) Yarborough; great grandchild, Emory Hillman; brothers, Billy Ray Baker and Jerry Wayne Baker; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her brother Christopher Adam Nichols.

Mrs. Turner was born in Sunbury, Pennsylvania on March 10, 1959 to Joseph and Theresa Tremblay. She died at the age of 62 on August 8, 2021 at Danville Center for Health and Rehab in Danville, Kentucky.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Jefferson County on August 8, 1939 to Alphonzo and Helen (Smith) Mitchell. He died at the age of 82 at Cullman Regional Medical Center in Cullman on August 9, 2021.

 

Survivors include his children, Van Mitchell, Charlie (Karen) Mitchell and Wes (Ginger) Mitchell; grandchildren, Seth Mitchell, J.J. Mr. Twitty was born to Albert and Ella (Nall) Twitty on April 6, 1968 in Cullman. He died at the age of 53 at his residence on August 2, 2021.

 

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Purifoy Twitty, son, Keith Twitty II; mother, Ella Marie Sims; brothers, Albert Twitty Jr., Ronaldo Smalley, Michael Twitty and Marvis Sims; a sister, Demtrice Sims; and a host of nieces and nephews.
