Mary Day Burns passed away on November 29, 2021. Mary was born in Cullman County in 1937 to John and Jura Day, who preceded her in death. She was married over 67 years to Milton L. Burns of Hanceville who passed away in December 2020.

 

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Debora Burns Peerce (Brian) and Amy Burns; three grandchildren, Brandon Peerce (Desirae), John Peerce (Chloe), and Alex Peerce; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Jack Peerce; and a sister, Laraine Stewart (Johnny). 

 

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Fred Day, Julius Day, John Day Jr., Bob Day, Mildred Gohn, Thelma Gohn, and Claud Day.

 

A private graveside service will be held at Fairview West on December 3, 2021.

Mrs. Lione was born in New York on Monday, July 11, 1938 to Arthur and Mary (Spoor) Beaupre. She died at the age of 83 at Grandview Medical Center on Friday, November 26, 2021.

 

Survivors include her children, Anna (Craig) Huggart, Elizabeth House, Ed (Donna) Heatherington, Patty (Dean) Arnold, Sarah (Scott) Platt, John (Lynda) Peirce, Salvatore (Christy) Lione Jr., and Rachel Lione; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lione was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore Lione Sr.

A Celebration of Life Service for James L. Brossow, formerly of Hanceville will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 1st at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville. Reverend Tim Barnett will be officiating. Visitation for the public will be from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 30th at Hanceville Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Brossow was born to the late Frank and Carolyn (Pribbnow) Brossow on Friday, April 20, 1945 in Stanley, Wisconsin. He died on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the age of 76 at his residence in Arab, Alabama.

 

After high school Mr. Brossow went on to join the United States Army. He entered in the year of 1965 in Neillsville, Wisconsin. During his enlistment period he obtained an active Corporal status and served in the Vietnam War. After his transfer to Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; he was honorably discharged in 1967. Following his separation, Mr. Brossow focused on getting into the workforce and growing his family. Working as a mechanic was just one of the many trades he gained over the years. He also had a talent for creating humor; not only in the toughest of situations but in his everyday life. There are many tales that will be talked about and shared in the days to come.

 

Those he leaves behind to cherish his life and legacy are his daughters, Jeannie Certain, Julie Boatright and Linda Kreuscher; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Randy Brossow; two sisters, Susan Riemer and Nancy Brossow; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janie A. Brossow; one brother; and two children.

Funeral services for Amy D. Puckett-Eudy of Baileyton, Alabama will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview West Cemetery. Reverend Gary Waddell will officiate. The family will welcome guests for a visitation Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

 

Mrs. Eudy was born in Cullman, Alabama on March 25, 1975. She died at the age of 46 on November 22, 2021 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

 

Survivors include her mother, Judy Puckett; husband, Michael Eudy; children, Matthew Eudy and Andrew (Shelby Lyn) Eudy; granddaughter, Parker Rae Eudy; sister, Jami (Derek) Nicholas; and nieces and nephews, Hayes Nicholas and Henley Nicholas.

 

Mrs. Eudy was preceded in death by her father, Francis Puckett.

Luceil Ryan Obit

Luceil Jane Harris Ryan of Blountsville, Alabama, departed this life on November 17, 2021, at her residence, three weeks before her 99th birthday. Mrs. Ryan was born Dec. 7, 1922, on Stouts Mountain near Hanceville, Alabama, the oldest child and only daughter of Luther Jane Harris and Pearl Jenkins Harris. 


Mrs. Ryan graduated from Hanceville High School in 1938 and completed her nurses training at South Highlands Infirmary in Birmingham. She married Martin Everett Ryan on July 25, 1942, and the couple raised three children and traveled around the United States during Mr. Ryan's Air Force career. Mrs. Ryan served as a room mother, Cub Scout den mother, Brownie and Girl Scout leader, Band Booster, and active Parent Teacher Association volunteer and delegate to the California PTA convention, among other things. Throughout their travels, Mrs. Ryan served as a Sunday School teacher everywhere the family lived. 


The couple returned to Alabama in 1970, where Mr. Ryan embarked on a second career with the Federal Aviation Administration, and Mrs. Ryan continued caring for her disabled daughter, Janice, and continued her tradition of civic involvement. She was an active member of the Sycamore Valley Homemakers Association and, as avid gardeners, she and Mr. Ryan were members of the Blount Iris and Daylily Society, serving as hosts of several flower tours. Mrs. Ryan also judged flower shows at Blount and Cullman County fairs. The couple also raised cattle. 


Mrs. Ryan enjoyed painting, and she produced hundreds of original works of art over a period of more than 50 years. At the request of her 102-year-old Aunt, May Millican, Mrs. Ryan hosted an art showing at her home on her 90th birthday, attended by dozens of family and friends.


Mrs. Ryan is predeceased by her husband, Martin Everett Ryan, Sr.; her parents; her brothers, Clifford Harris and Ray Harris; her daughter, Janice Helen Ryan; and her granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Susan (Jeff) Thompson and son, Martin Ryan, Jr., both of Blountsville; granddaughter, Susan Thompson (Bert) Spence of Birmingham; and great-grandchildren, Arrany Laura Spence, Elwyn Ryan Spence, and Thompson "Tom" Berton Spence.

Mr. House was born on December 29, 1939 to Roy E. and Lois (Howard) House in Cullman County, Alabama. He died peacefully at the age of 81 on November 15, 2021 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab Center.

 

Mr. House served in the Alabama National Guard and was also employed with Monsanto in Decatur, AL for over 30 years; where he worked as a lab technician.

 

The family would like to give a special 'Thank You' to the staff at Hanceville Nursing Home for the love and support given to Mr. House; and the family during times of difficulty and transition.

Mr. Pope was born on June 7, 1943 to Alexander and Bernice (Martin) Pope. He died at the age of 78 at his residence in Hanceville on November 4, 2021.

 

Survivors include his children, Sonja Denise Pope-Connell and Charlotte Anne (Ricky) Armstrong; grandchildren, Joshua (Kaley) Dean, Michael (Amanda) Dean, Ashley Loggins, Zachary (Brittni) Armstrong and Alex Armstrong; great grandchildren, Haylee Nethery, Mikaela Dean, Paetience Loggins, Blakley Dean, Isabella Dean, Paizlee Armstrong, Knox Armstrong and Tynzlee Armstrong; brother, Cleo (Libby) Pope; sister, Lois Hayes; brother-in-law, Greg Young; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Pope.

Linda Sue Johns Quick (Lolly) was born on August 3, 1957 in Jefferson County, Alabama to James and Barbara (Scott) Johns. She died at the age of 64 on November 2, 2021 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Mrs. Quick taught 1st Grade at Holly Pond Elementary School for 27 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and beloved dog Lucy.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Ronnie Quick.

 

Survivors include her children, Brandon (Kerry) Quick, Brittney (Robyn) Canady and Brent Quick; grandchildren, Collin (Shelby) Harris, Josie (Trey) Guthery, Sagey, River, and Barrett "SuSu" Canady; brothers, Alan (Angie) Johns and Michael Johns; and a host of nieces, nephews and former students who loved her.

 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Bethlehem East Cemetery in Hanceville.

 

In true 'Linda Quick Fashion' she will be arriving late to her funeral.

Funeral services for Mary Ethel Connell of Hanceville, AL will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 5, 2021 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow at Center Hill Cemetery. Reverend Tommy Swann will be officiating. The family of Mrs. Connell will welcome guests for a visitation from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening at Hanceville Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Connell went home to be with her Lord and her husband on November 2, 2021 at the age of 80. She was born in Cullman, Alabama on May 31, 1941 to Joseph and Mildred (Wilhite) Easterwood. Mrs. Connell was loved by all that knew her and will be dearly missed.

 

Survivors include her children, Patricia (Rick) Lindsey, Keith (Jonna) Connell, Kevin Connell and Allen Connell; grandchildren, Seth (Amy) Lindsey, Jared (Jennifer) Lindsey, Karen (Kim) Blackwood, Ky Connell, Leo Connell and Will Connell; great grandchildren, Campbell Blackwood and Will Connell; sisters, Effie (Johnny) Looney and Edith Rowland; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Connell.
